The President and the Prime Minister in their
separate messages on the occasion have called
upon the nation to show unity, interfaith harmony
and self discipline.


Pakistan Day is being celebrated today with great zeal and
enthusiasm and a renewal of pledge to work for integrity,
solidarity and development of the country.


In their separate messages, President Pervez Musharraf and
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have called upon the nation to
show unity, interfaith harmony and self discipline for making
Pakistan a tolerant and progressive society.


In his message, the President emphasized that it is incumbent
upon all to rededicate ourselves for the realization of the
ideological foundations on which the country came into being.
He asked the people to present the true picture of Islam to the
world at large by adopting the message of peace and
brotherhood for the mankind.


The President said a new direction has been given to our
nation's destiny through enlightened moderation in light of the
principle given to us by our founding father.


The Prime Minister in his message said the government is
committed to fight the ills of corruption, nepotism and terrorism
to realize the objectives of making Pakistan a progressive and
forward looking Islamic welfare state.


The Prime Minister advised the Nation to place national unity
and integrity above any other considerations under the
prevailing environment.


The Day dawned with thirty one gun salute in the federal
capital and twenty one gun salutes at all the provincial capitals.
After Fajr prayers special prayers were offered for the integrity,
solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity of Muslim
Ummah and well being of the people.
